One of the greatest facets of human history is our cultivation of fine art. For thousands of years, humans have created countless incredible works of art that continue to captivate  and delight millions of viewers.

While galleries and museums across the globe have curated and exhibited the most comprehensive showcases of art history, not everyone will be able to  travel and visit them.

Provenance is an ambitious project designed with the intention to help make  artistic masterpieces in museums and galleries around the world accessible to everyone. All through a gorgeous and simplistic app.

Provenance is a completely visual experience. It was designed to be entirely without any conventional user interface elements so that every pixel is committed to the impact of the artwork.

Taking full advantage of the native gestures of iOS, Provenance allows you to effortlessly navigate the app by swiping, tapping, and pressing. And with 3D Touch on iPhone 6S and 6S Plus, you can preview artwork with Peek and then jump right in with Pop. Swiping up while Peeking will reveal a menu that allows you to interact with the artwork being viewed.

PLEASE DO TOUCH THE ARTWORK.

SO MUCH DETAIL, YOU’LL SCREAM.

Provenance partners with the prestigious museums and galleries of the world to take super high-resolution scans of flat artwork (like paintings), or 3D scans of three-dimensional artwork (like sculptures).

Nothing could possibly beat beholding these artistic masterpieces in person. But experiencing high-resolution scans of the authentic artwork through the beautiful Retina Display on iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch is the definitive next best thing.

A GALLERY IN YOUR LIVING ROOM.

Provenance on Apple TV brings the art collections of galleries and museums around the world to the largest screen in your home. It was made for the big screen just as much as it was made for your mobile devices.

And, since Provenance is a universal app, your settings, history, and Favorites move seamlessly between your iOS devices and Apple TV.
